When Do Traeger Grills Go on Sale?

Fathers Day and Black Friday are the most common times for Traeger grills to go on sale. When Traeger grills go on sale, you can usually save $100-$200 and sometimes they will throw in a bag of pellets and a cover.

Considering that these grills cost in the $1,000 – $2,000 range the savings really are not that significant.

You may also get lucky around Christmas if you shop around various local retailers who’re liquidating old stock. I have occasionally seen a cheap Traeger at Home Depot that was marked down because of a small dent in the lid.

But, other than those few times, you’re stuck paying full price if you want one of these grills unless they are running a special sale on Amazon.

If you are itching to get a Traeger but the price tag has you shocked then you should know that there is one place that sells them for a much more reasonable price and often runs sales that lower the price even further.

That place is Costco!

Traeger makes three lines of grills that are exclusive to Costco:

These grills are extremely similar to other Traeger grills but cost much less. What is more, Costco will often have a Traeger Road Show or Special Event where the grills are marked down even more.

For example, right now (January, 2022) Costco has the Traeger Mesa 22 on sale for $599. This price includes shipping so it should be available in the store for even less.

The Fremont is equivalent to Traeger’s Gen 1 Pro 22 which sells for $649.

Are Traegers Worth It?

Traeger grills are really nice, produce great food and are fun to use.

That being said, their prices are on the high end of the market and you can get more bang for your buck with other brands.

If you buy a Traeger you will get a great grill but it will not be a bargain.

Do You Really Need a Traeger?

I love cooking on a pellet grill and understand why this type of grill is exploding in popularity. For years Traeger was the only player in the pellet grill space since they held the patents on pellet grill technology.
