How to Find Your Weber Model Number (And What It Tells You)

Knowing your exact Weber model is the only way to buy the right replacement parts. The wrong flavorizer bars don't fit. The wrong burner tubes leak gas. Wrong heat plates leave gaps. This guide shows you where Weber hides the model sticker on every grill they make — Spirit, Genesis, Summit, Q, Smokey Mountain, Kettle — plus how to identify your model visually if the sticker's worn off, and how to figure out what year and generation you have for parts that have changed over time.

Quick Answer · 60 seconds

Where is the Weber model number located?

On Weber gas grills (Spirit, Genesis, Summit), the model number is on a metal sticker inside the left cabinet door or on the back of the lower frame. On Weber charcoal grills (Kettle, Performer), it's on the inside of the lid OR a small plate under the bottom bowl. On Weber Smokey Mountain smokers, it's on the bottom of the lower fire pan. The sticker shows a 10-digit number formatted as X-XX-XXXXXX.

Sticker Locations

Where the model number sticker is on every Weber

Weber Spirit / Spirit II / Spirit (2022+)

Weber has made Spirit grills since 1985 in multiple generations. The sticker location has changed twice — most current Spirits have it inside the left cabinet door, where the propane tank sits. A small share of 2007-2012 Spirits carried the sticker on the back of the lower frame. The 2022+ Spirit redesign keeps the cabinet-door location but switched to a QR-coded sticker that links to Weber's parts portal when scanned.

Where to look

  1. 1
Open the left cabinet door (where the propane tank sits).
  2. 2
Look on the inside of the door — there is a metal or vinyl sticker with model number and serial number.
  3. 3
If not there, check the back of the lower frame (some 2007-2012 Spirits had it there).
  4. 4
For Spirit II (2013-2021): always inside the left cabinet door.
  5. 5
For Spirit (2022+, new redesign): inside the left cabinet door, but the sticker is now QR-coded.

What the sticker looks like: Off-white or silver sticker, roughly 2"×3", with Weber's logo, a 10-digit model/serial number, manufacturing date code, and gas type (LP or NG).

Weber Genesis / Genesis II / Genesis (2022+)

Weber Genesis has had four major generations: original (1985-1998), Genesis 1000-5000 series — Silver/Gold/Platinum (1999-2007), Genesis 300 series (2007-2016), Genesis II (2017-2021), and the new Genesis (2022+). Sticker location varies by generation, and parts do not interchange between generations — identify yours before ordering.

Where to look

  1. 1
Current Genesis (2022+) and Genesis II (2017-2021): inside the right or left cabinet door, OR on the back of the lower frame.
  2. 2
Genesis 300 Original (2007-2016): back of the lower frame, near the bottom.
  3. 3
Genesis 1000-5000 (1999-2007): inside the left cabinet door or on the manifold panel under the control knobs.
  4. 4
Original Genesis (pre-1999): under the lid, on the inside of the firebox.

What the sticker looks like: Same Weber design as Spirit. Genesis stickers also include the burner count (e.g., "3-Burner") and grill series (e.g., "Genesis II E-310").

For Q reviews and buying guidance, see our Weber Q1200 review and Weber Q2200 review.

Weber Kettle / Performer (charcoal)

Weber Kettles have been made since 1952 with limited design changes. Sticker location depends on age — modern kettles have a small plate, older ones have a stamping.

No Sticker?

If the sticker is missing or unreadable — identify visually

Stickers fade, peel, or get scrubbed off. Don't panic — Weber's design changes between generations are distinctive enough that you can usually identify your model from visual features alone. Work through the three steps below in order.

Step 1: Identify the model family

Look at the overall shape and burner count:

  • Spirit: 2-3 burners, cart-style with open bottom or single cabinet.
  • Genesis: 3-4 burners, side burner often present, full cart cabinet.
  • Summit: 4+ burners, very large cabinet, often with smoker box and rotisserie.
  • Q: Small portable, single curved lid, NOT cart-mounted.
  • Kettle: Round, charcoal, no gas connection.
  • WSM: Tall cylindrical "bullet" shape, charcoal.

Step 2: For Spirit/Genesis — identify the generation by control knobs

Side-by-side comparison of Weber control knob styles across Spirit and Genesis generations
Side-by-side comparison of Weber control knob styles across Spirit and Genesis generations
  • 2022+ (current): Knobs are large, round, with a wide silver bezel ring.
  • Spirit II / Genesis II (2013-2021): Smaller knobs, blue Weber center dot.
  • Spirit / Genesis 300 (2007-2012): Black knobs with red center.
  • Genesis 1000-5000 (1999-2007): Black knobs, no center color.
  • Original Genesis (pre-1999): Smaller knobs, single-color black.

Step 3: Identify the burner count and size suffix

For most Spirit and Genesis grills, the suffix tells you everything:

  • E-210 / S-210: 2 burners (Spirit only).
  • E-310 / S-310: 3 burners (Spirit or Genesis).
  • E-320 / S-320: 3 burners + side burner (older Genesis).
  • E-330 / S-330: 3 burners + side burner + searing station (Genesis).
  • E-410 / E-470 / S-470: 4 burners (Genesis or Summit).
  • "E" prefix: porcelain enameled cookbox. "S" prefix: stainless steel cookbox.

  • WSM 22.5 (2009-present): Larger version, same basic design.
  • WSM 14.5 (2014-present): Compact version for small spaces.

Older Weber Grills

Identifying older and discontinued Weber models

If you own a Weber from before 2010, you might struggle to find your model in current Weber documentation. Here's how to identify older Genesis, Spirit, and Summit models — and where to find compatible aftermarket parts since OEM stock is largely gone.

Weber Genesis Silver A / Silver B / Silver C (1999-2007)

  • Silver A: 2-burner, no side burner.
  • Silver B: 3-burner, no side burner.
  • Silver C: 3-burner with side burner.
  • Discontinued in 2007 when Genesis 300 series launched.
  • Critical: Parts are NOT compatible with Genesis 300 (2007-2016) or Genesis II (2017+).
  • Where to find parts: Genesis parts hub.

Weber Genesis Gold / Platinum (1999-2007)

  • Gold B: 3-burner with side burner, premium features.
  • Gold C: 3-burner with side burner + searing station.
  • Platinum I / II: Top-tier with rotisserie, smoker box.
  • Same generation as Silver — parts cross-compatible within Gold/Platinum.

Original Weber Genesis 1, 2, 3 (1985-1998)

  • Smaller cabinet, fewer features than later Genesis.
  • Most replacement parts now aftermarket-only.
  • Cross-link: aftermarket Genesis parts.

Older Weber Spirit Models (pre-2013)

  • Spirit Classic (1995-2002): Earliest Spirit, simpler design.
  • Spirit E-210 / S-210 / E-310 (2003-2012): First "Premium" Spirit generation.
  • Critical: Spirit (2003-2012) parts do NOT fit Spirit II (2013-2021) — different bar system, different burner mounts.
  • Where to find parts: Spirit parts hub.

Discontinued specialty models

  • Weber Q 100 / 200 / 300: The original Q line, replaced by Q1000/2000/3000. Limited parts availability.
  • Weber Skyline: Discontinued built-in line.
  • Weber Genesis II LX: Last-gen Genesis II premium tier — parts still available, but model has been discontinued.

Read the Number

What your Weber model number means

The 10-digit Weber model number isn't random — it encodes the model series, year of manufacture, and an internal model identifier. Once you can read it, you can identify any Weber.

X-XX-XXXXXX

  • First digit: Manufacturer code (always "4" for Weber-Stephen).
  • Next 2 digits: Year of manufacture (e.g., "15" = 2015, "22" = 2022).
  • Remaining 6 digits: Model/serial identifier.

Examples (real Weber numbers):

  • 4-15-621523 = Weber, manufactured 2015, Genesis II E-310.
  • 4-19-487291 = Weber, manufactured 2019, Spirit II E-310.

Important: this format applies to grills made 2007+. Older Weber serial numbers used a different format (often letter-prefixed).

Where to look up specific numbers

  • Weber's official lookup tool: weber.com/parts (search by serial number).
  • For older models (pre-2007), Weber's chat support has internal lookup tables they'll consult if you provide the serial number.

Why It Matters

Why exact model identification matters for parts

Weber redesigns parts between generations. Spirit (pre-2013) flavorizer bars are 16.875" long; Spirit II (2013+) bars are 15.3" — they don't interchange. Genesis 300 (2007-2016) flavorizer bars fit a specific bracket; Genesis II (2017+) bars don't fit those brackets. Buy the wrong size and they sit crooked, leave gaps, and you're returning them or making them work poorly.

Burner tubes have the same problem. Spirit II uses "PureBlu" burners — they're a different length and mount style than Spirit (pre-2013). A "Weber Spirit burner" search on Amazon returns options from multiple generations; you need to know which one fits.

The model number tells you which generation. Once you know the generation, the parts pages on this site filter by generation. See the Weber replacement parts master guide for the master index, or the master burner tubes guide and master flavorizer bars guide.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Where is the model number on a Weber grill?

On Weber gas grills (Spirit, Genesis, Summit) the sticker is inside the left cabinet door or on the back of the lower frame. On Weber charcoal grills (Kettle, Performer) it is on the inside of the lid or on a small plate under the bowl. On Weber Smokey Mountain smokers it is on the bottom of the lower charcoal pan. The number is 10 digits formatted as X-XX-XXXXXX.

Where is the model number on a Weber Genesis?

Genesis II (2017-2021) and current Genesis (2022+) have the sticker inside the right or left cabinet door, or on the back of the lower frame. Genesis 300 originals (2007-2016) carry it on the back of the lower frame. Genesis 1000-5000 (1999-2007) Silver/Gold/Platinum had it inside the left cabinet door or on the manifold panel under the control knobs. Original Genesis (pre-1999) had it stamped under the lid on the inside of the firebox.

Where is the model number on a Weber Spirit?

On Spirit and Spirit II, the model number sticker is inside the left cabinet door, where the propane tank sits. A small share of 2007-2012 Spirits carried it on the back of the lower frame instead. On the 2022+ Spirit redesign, the sticker is still inside the left cabinet door but is now QR-coded.

Where is the model number on a Weber Q?

Tilt or flip the Weber Q. The sticker is on the bottom of the lower casting, near the rear gas connection on Q1000/Q1200, or on the back of the burner box on Q2200/Q3200. It is smaller than full-size Weber stickers — about 1.5 by 2 inches — and shows the Q model designation plus serial number.

Where is the model number on a Weber Kettle?

Modern kettles (2010+) have a small metal plate inside the lid near the hinge or on the underside of the bowl. Performer carts have it on the inside of the right cart side panel. Older kettles (pre-2000) often have no sticker — Weber stamped a letter+number date code on the underside of the bowl (A=Jan through M=Dec, skipping I; the digit is the year).

How do I know what year my Weber grill is?

On 2007+ Webers, the second and third digits of the 10-digit serial number are the year of manufacture. For example, 4-19-487291 was made in 2019. Older grills (pre-2007) used letter-prefixed serials and require Weber's chat support to decode. Kettle-only date stamps follow the letter+number convention described above.

How do I tell if I have a Spirit or Spirit II?

Look at the control knobs and the cookbox. Spirit II (2013-2021) introduced the GS4 grilling system: smaller knobs with a blue Weber center dot, and a redesigned firebox. Original Spirit (pre-2013) has larger knobs and the older bar/burner system. Critically for parts: Spirit II flavorizer bars and burner tubes are a different size than original Spirit and do not interchange.

How do I tell if I have a Genesis or Genesis II?

Genesis II (2017-2021) uses the GS4 system with a deeper cookbox, infinity ignition, and stronger castings. Knobs are smaller with a blue Weber center dot. Genesis 300 originals (2007-2016) have black knobs with red center accents. Genesis 1000-5000 (1999-2007) — Silver/Gold/Platinum — use plain black knobs and a different bar system entirely.

What does the Weber model number tell me?

The 10-digit number encodes manufacturer, year, and model identifier. The first digit is always 4 (Weber-Stephen). The next two digits are the year of manufacture (15 = 2015). The last six are the model and serial identifier. The sticker also prints the model name (e.g., 'Genesis II E-310') and gas type (LP or NG).

Can I look up my Weber by serial number?

Yes. Weber's official tool at weber.com/parts accepts serial numbers and returns the matching part diagrams. For pre-2007 grills, Weber's customer support team (800-446-1071) can look up older serial numbers in their internal records when you call or chat with the serial in hand.

My Weber sticker is gone — how do I identify the model?

Use a three-step visual check: (1) identify the family by overall shape and burner count (Spirit = 2-3 burners cart, Genesis = 3-4 with side burner, Summit = 4+ very large), (2) identify the generation by control knob style (knob design changed in every major redesign), (3) identify burner count and suffix from the manifold (E-210, E-310, E-330, etc.). The full visual procedure is in the section above.

How do I tell if my Weber is the original Genesis or Genesis 300?

Original Genesis (1985-1998) is the Genesis 1, 2, or 3 — smaller cabinet, simpler controls, often with painted-steel side shelves. Genesis 300 originals (2007-2016) are larger, with the E-310/E-330/S-310/S-330 designations, and carry 5 flavorizer bars 16.875 inches long. The 1999-2007 in-between generation was the Silver/Gold/Platinum line, which is a different bar system again.

What are the older Weber Genesis Silver/Gold/Platinum models?

These are the 1999-2007 Genesis line. Silver A is 2-burner. Silver B is 3-burner. Silver C is 3-burner with side burner. Gold B and Gold C add premium features and the searing station. Platinum I and II are the top-tier with rotisserie and smoker box. Parts are not compatible with the Genesis 300 (2007-2016) or Genesis II (2017+) lines.

How do I find parts for an old Weber grill?

Identify the generation first (use the year-by-year section above). For Genesis 1985-1998 and most pre-2007 Spirits, OEM parts are mostly discontinued and aftermarket is your only option. For Genesis 1000-5000 and Genesis 300 originals, OEM is still partially available. For Spirit II, Genesis II, and current Genesis/Spirit/Summit, OEM stock is plentiful.

What's the difference between Weber Spirit E-210 and E-310?

E-210 is a 2-burner Spirit; E-310 is a 3-burner Spirit. The 'E' means porcelain enameled cookbox; an 'S' prefix (S-210, S-310) means stainless steel cookbox. The E-210 uses 3 flavorizer bars, the E-310 uses 5. Burner tube count and length also differ.

What does the 'E' or 'S' in Weber model names mean?

The letter is the cookbox material. 'E' is porcelain enameled steel (the standard, lower-cost option). 'S' is stainless steel (premium, more durable, longer warranty in most years). The number that follows is the burner count: 210 = 2 burners, 310 = 3 burners, 410 = 4 burners. So an S-310 is a 3-burner with stainless cookbox.

Are parts compatible across Weber Genesis generations?

No. Genesis 1000-5000 (1999-2007), Genesis 300 original (2007-2016), Genesis II (2017-2021), and current Genesis (2022+) each use different flavorizer bar sizes, burner tube designs, and bracket systems. Identifying the generation first is essential before ordering replacement parts.

Where do I look up Weber parts by model number?

Weber's official tool at weber.com/parts is the canonical source. For aftermarket pricing and faster shipping, our model-specific parts hubs (Spirit, Genesis, Summit, Performer, WSM) are organized by generation so you can match parts without manually decoding the serial. Cross-links in the section above route you to the right page.
